Storing coffee beans in a small kitchen
Choose one accessible, dry storage spot and buy amounts that match how quickly you use them.
Good storage begins with knowing your own pace. A modest kitchen needs an easy place for the coffee in use, not a complicated collection of containers.

Find a stable spot
Choose a cool, dry cupboard away from direct sunlight, heat and steam. Follow the roaster's package directions where given. A shelf above the kettle may be convenient but can become warm or damp; check the actual conditions before assigning it. Keep beans away from cleaning products and strong odors.
Use the original bag if it works
Many coffee bags are designed to close and protect their contents. Fold or reseal the bag as directed and keep it in the cupboard. If the bag does not close well, transfer beans to a clean, food-safe, airtight container sized for the amount you keep. Avoid displaying a clear jar in bright sun simply because it looks attractive.
Keep track without extra labels
Save the roast or best-by information from the bag if it helps you decide when to use it. A small note on the container is enough. Do not mix new beans into old ones before cleaning and drying the container. Buying a quantity that fits your routine matters more than finding a perfect jar.
Give the scoop a home
Keep a clean scoop or measuring spoon beside the container, not buried in a crowded drawer. Wipe up grounds and return the lid tightly after use. A small tray can catch stray beans, but it should not make the cupboard harder to clean. Review the setup when your buying pattern changes.
